When you watch Team Canada walk into the opening ceremonies, what do you feel?

Most of us do.

We watch athletes carrying the maple leaf, standing shoulder to shoulder with competitors from around the world, and we assume they've finally made it—that once they qualify, everything else is taken care of.

I believed that too.

Until I learned something that completely changed the way I looked at Canadian sport.

Many athletes still have to find a way to get themselves to the Commonwealth Games.

Years of training.Years of sacrifice.Years of saying "no" to weekends, vacations, and ordinary life.

Then, after earning the right to wear Canada across their chest...

...they're still worrying about how they'll afford the journey.

That didn't sit right with me.

So I asked myself a simple question.

What if ordinary Canadians could help in an extraordinary way?

More Than Jewelry

As Creative Director of Bishop & Medusa, I design jewelry every day.

Beautiful jewelry.

Fashion-forward jewelry.

Pieces that tell stories.

But this project was different.

This wasn't about creating another bracelet.

It was about creating something people could wear with purpose.

Something that quietly says,

"I believe in our athletes."

The result is the Commonwealth Team Canada Bracelet—an 18K gold-plated beaded bracelet featuring a red maple leaf, Canada's most recognizable symbol.

The Story Continues

This isn't the first time we've supported Team Canada.

Our original Commonwealth bracelet campaign featured members of Team Canada in a professional six-page editorial published in JoLee Magazine.

More recently, I had the privilege of joining Ivana Fracasso on CHIN Radio's L'Eco d'Abruzzo to share the story behind the bracelet and help raise awareness for Canadian athletes.

The conversation reminded me why this project matters.

Because once people hear the athletes' story...

they want to help.

I often say this bracelet is more than jewelry.

Years from now, someone may glance down at their wrist and remember they played a small part in helping a Canadian athlete wear the maple leaf on the world stage.

That thought still gives me goosebumps.
